Circus Street, Brighton

At Circus Street we will be delivering an ‘Innovation Quarter’ in the heart of Brighton, one of the UK’s foremost creative cities. This project will be delivered in partnership with Brighton & Hove City Council and the University of Brighton and will be a new world-class mixed-use destination for creative and technical innovation, just a stone’s throw from the Royal Pavilion and Brighton Pier.
In November 2012 we appointed Shedkm as our architects for the £100m mixed-use PPP regeneration scheme. The team, led by Hazel Rounding, has already started work on the project and will be aiming for a planning application submission in June 2013. The proposals will include an eclectic mix of accommodation to inspire and create a lifestyle place focused on ideas, innovation and commercial success.
The scheme will include a brand new teaching, learning and research facility for the University of Brighton, just off Grand Parade and adjacent to the University Campus. We’ll also build a new dance studio and creative workspaces, up to 200 residential homes, office space catering for start-up businesses and larger companies alike, restaurants and cafes as well as a 400 bed student accomodation.
This new Quarter will be delivered by our team who have a proven track record of conceiving, building, inspiring and fuelling the energy of creative communities just like this.
Before we make a start on site, we’ve been making use of the old municipal market by holding numerous events and team meetings there. In 2009 world renowned artist Anish Kapoor used our space for his installation ‘The Dismemberment of Jeanne D’Arc’ as part of the Brighton Festival.
