Morden Wharf
In March 2012, along with our partners Development Securities PLC, we acquired Morden Wharf, a 19 acre regeneration site on Greenwich Peninsula. The major riverside regeneration site, formerly a sweeteners refinery, is adjacent to the O2 Arena with 500 metres of Thames river frontage and will play a crucial part in the delivery of the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s masterplan proposals for the western side of the Greenwich Peninsula, published in April 2012.
The Peninsula West Masterplan outlines the Council’s intention to transform the Peninsula into London’s premier entertainment zone by focusing development and regeneration around multi-purpose sports, entertainment and educational facilities that enhance with the offer at the O2 Arena and seamlessly and sustainably link historic Greenwich with the masterplanned zone.
Both Cathedral Group and Development Securities have a strong track record of development in Greenwich and are currently working in partnership on The Movement, Greenwich. Morden Wharf is a perfect example of what we do best at Cathedral. It demonstrates our ability to undertake complex corporate transactions and to acquire land assets with significant development challenges in areas of major change.
